The thing that makes a My Brest Friend pillow different from a soft crescent pillow is that it wraps around your waist and stays flat and firm, holding baby at exactly the right height. Used correctly, it takes the strain out of feeding. Here's how, step by step.

Step by step

  1. Put it on before you pick up baby. Wrap the pillow around your waist with the flat cushion facing up and the backrest behind you, then click the buckle closed.
  2. Adjust it snug. Tighten the strap so the pillow sits level at about navel height and doesn't slide down. It should feel secure, like a supportive shelf.
  3. Sit back. Settle fully into your chair and let the built-in backrest support your lower back. You shouldn't have to lean forward.
  4. Bring baby to the pillow. Lay baby on the flat surface, tummy to you, with their nose level with your nipple. Because the cushion is firm, baby stays put at the right height — you bring baby to the breast, not the other way around.
  5. Choose your hold. The cradle hold works well for most feeds; the football (rugby) hold — baby tucked along your side — is great for latching help, twins, or C-section recovery.
  6. Use the pocket. Keep a water bottle or burp cloth in the front pocket so everything's within reach.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Wearing it too loose. If the pillow sags, baby drops too low and you'll hunch. Tighten the strap.
  • Leaning into baby. Let the pillow and backrest do the lifting — keep your shoulders relaxed and back.
  • Skipping the backrest. It's there to protect your lower back during long feeds; sit all the way back against it.

Caring for your pillow

Most covers are removable and machine-washable — always follow the sewn-in care label. On models with a waterproof inner liner, the foam core stays protected from leaks and spit-up.
